So my study abroad instructor is quite possibly the biggest asshole in the universe, and my evaluation will have some seriously choice words.
We saw Titus Andronicus. If you’re squeemish don’t google it. Its basically Shakespeare meets Quentin Tarantino but with more violence against women.
There were people in the audience who can’t handle that subject matter. Several passed out, but a girl in our group ran of the theater in tears, during one of the more violent parts, and the instructor told her to “grow up” during intermission, and made her go back in to the theater. After the show, one in our group couldn’t stand, and two more had been crying, but everyone was clearly shaken. She basically told us we were being too sensitive and we needed to get over it because it was real theatre.
HOW ABOUT FUCK YOU.
On the other hand, the Royal Shakespeare Company is truly fantastic, and if you can handle the subject matter, I highly recommend Titus Andronicus.
